Join us on October 3, 2025, to commemorate the 244th anniversary of the Battle of the Hook. The ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3 at Abingdon Elementary School – rain or shine. The largest cavalry battle of the American Revolution, the Battle of the Hook has often been overlooked. It is one of the most important episodes of the siege of Yorktown. Gloucester County will proudly honor the American and French soldiers who fought and died for American independence at the 1781 Battle of the Hook. The ceremony will feature musical performances, speeches, a keynote address from a member of the French military, and a moment of silence. Family friendly and open to the public.
