When Lafayette visited Portsmouth on this date in 1824, he looked on as citizens reenacted the Battle of Scotts Creek. Through the magic of living history, Lafayette will once again be present as Youth Virginia Regiment recreates this Portsmouth skirmish. Before and after the reenactment, guests can visit Youth Virginia Regiment's Revolutionary War Encampment and learn what life was like as a soldier or camp follower. Members of the Ethiopian and 1st Rhode Island regiments will be on hand to explain which side they chose and why.
